Specialists in a particular brand of verdant violence, these Gnomes love nothing more than sowing the seeds of mayhem in the muddy soil of the Blood Bowl pitch. Where other teams bring steel and sinew, the Mean Greens bring thorn, root, and trickery, ready to tangle opponents in a choking mess of briars and bad intentions.
It all started with a dream. Burble "The Bumbler" Boxwood returned from Altdorf with more than he bargained for, having traded his family's harvest of roses for a ticket to a sporting event he'd never heard of. From the vantage of a discarded fruit box, he watched the Reikland Reavers overcome the Marauders in Blood Bowl XXXI. The heroism, the strategy, and the parterre of the pitch planted seeds in the mind of the would-be coach. Burble returned to his Gnomish enclave in the forest of Altern with newfound purpose: to turn his gardeners into grand finalists.
For months, the team trained under the guidance of Boxwood's hazy memories of the rules and the plays. When it was established that the Gnomes' short legs proved a perennial issue, Burble drafted in the support of those woodland critters that had shown an interest in the ball. The trees, which had previously been used as corner markers, even began to show an interest. Garden shears were swapped for cleats, gardening gloves for knuckledusters, and The Mean Greens were born. Burble's team now venture into the wilderness of the lower leagues, aerating the soil with their studs and irrigating it with (mostly their own) blood. Their form has been nowhere near evergreen, but the dream is alive and well.
